Just applied for a programmer role at a games company outside of London! Quarter-life crisis in full effect
What are you thinking about right now?
I prevent hangovers by having a Five Guys meal at the end of every night I'm out drinking

author=NeverSilentThanks NS! I think it's time to have some change in my life, so I'm just going for it full-speed ahead. #noregrets
Good luck, Yellow! Don't let it break your calm, I'm sure you're more than capable of handling the change should it come.
author=kentonaIf there are any gamedev companies feel free to refer me...........
Regina, Saskatchewan is outside of London!
author=Cap_HYeah, Midlands are much more affordable than London - however as a result, the salaries are lower too. By going from working in a bank in London to a gamedev company in Midlands, I'd almost certainly be taking a pay cut - but I'm at a point in my life where (as privileged as it sounds) I don't give a crap.
Good luck. Midlands should have affordable housing too.
I have a Skype interview with the CTO next week...fingers crossed...

Good heavens no. This job is in Leamington Spa in the West Midlands - there are a bunch of games companies clustered around here for some reason.

Just for once I'd like to be not a fucking failure
Man Sooz's real-talk post was great. But I keep paying way too much attention to that avatar #WhatIsSeenCannotBeUnseen
I think in this day and age, people should re-evaluate what it means to be a success and a failure. I have my own slightly controversial views on this type of thing I'd rather not share, but at the very least if you're not causing active harm to other people I'd say you're far from a failure.

So my computer crashed and my project got corrupted...
I think one of the smartest things to do in this regard would be to use version control. A lot safer than simply storing your data on Dropbox or USB sticks, plus some other advantages... Here's a RPG Maker focused tutorial on using something like Bitbucket to version control your project.
Map Your Life!
author=Jeroen_SolOhhh...that kind of setup is fairly common in the UK as well. Also, thanks for reminding me I need to invest my savings in something, otherwise my money is actually going to lose value ;(author=Yellow MagicYes and no. Mostly no.
You have your own apartment???
My roommate's parents are both surgeons, so they've got quite a bit of money. They decided to buy an apartment because property loses its value less quickly than money on the bank does. My roommate and I rent the place from his parents. (He only does in name so he can get a rent allowance. I think his parents give him back the rent in the form of a monthly gift.)
So I do live in an apartment, but it's not my apartment.
Also I love the fire extinguisher in your room.
The fire extinguisher isn't actually that prominent IRL - I just got very excited when I saw it amongst the available tiles.
